Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most, answered directly — the background, the method, and what an engagement actually involves.
Who is Abdul Rehman Sandhu?
Abdul Rehman Sandhu is a UK qualified accountant (FCCA) and founder based in London, working with clients internationally. He qualified as an accountant, spent 2000 to 2012 in practice from junior to partner, and since 2012 has worked as a technology advisor. He has built or co-founded seventeen businesses across accounting technology, membership platforms, property, education, retail, enterprise systems and infrastructure, serving clients internationally. He advises business owners and management teams on where their business is losing time and money, then designs and builds the technology that removes it.
What does Abdul Rehman Sandhu do?
Two things that usually sit apart. As a qualified accountant he identifies and costs operational and financial inefficiency in a business — where time is lost, where cost is duplicated, and which numbers nobody trusts. As a builder he then designs and delivers the technology that removes it, whether that is an integration between systems you already pay for or a platform built from scratch. Where technology is not the right answer, he says so.
Is Abdul Rehman Sandhu a qualified accountant?
Yes. He holds the FCCA designation, meaning Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants — the fellowship grade awarded to members after a period of continued membership and experience beyond the initial ACCA qualification.
What businesses has Abdul Rehman Sandhu founded?
Seventeen, including Practice Hub UK, MTD Connect, Apex Billing, PayTime, PracticePA, Iris Connect and the Companies House UK Information app in accounting technology; AOPA UK, AOPA Pakistan and AOPA UAE in professional membership; YouRent and FindMyHive in property; TheTutorNest in education; ClickA Deal in retail; ERPWise in enterprise systems; and RapidIndex and PingWise in infrastructure.
Where is Abdul Rehman Sandhu based, and who does he work with?
He is based in London and works with clients internationally, remotely by default. His platforms operate under several different tax and regulatory regimes, which is the practical test of whether a solution genuinely travels rather than merely being reskinned — the AOPA membership platform is the clearest example.
What is Abdul Rehman Sandhu's background?
He qualified as an accountant and spent 2000 to 2012 in accountancy practice, progressing from junior to partner. During those years he became the person who handled the firm's technology — adopting new software properly, developing a technology-led approach to practice work, and automating the functions that consumed the most hours and returned the least professional judgement. In 2012 he left practice to work as a technology advisor full time, and has built solutions for clients ever since.
Why did Abdul Rehman Sandhu leave accountancy?
Because the most valuable work he was doing inside practice was the technology work, and it could not be done properly as a side responsibility of being a partner. Leaving an established position to build something from nothing was not an easy start — there is no client list and no reputation in the new field. What carried it was understanding the businesses he was building for, having spent twelve years being one of them.
What does a business inefficiency review involve?
Four stages. Diagnose — sitting with the people who actually do the work and mapping the real process end to end. Prioritise — costing every finding in hours, error rates, cash tied up and revenue not collected, then ranking it against what a fix would cost. Build — designing and delivering the solution where technology is the right answer. Prove — measuring the same figure before and after, and reporting it honestly even when it falls short of forecast.
Do you only work with accountancy firms?
No. Accountancy and professional services are where the deepest sector knowledge sits, but the method applies to any owner-managed business, scale-up or professional practice carrying manual work its systems were supposed to have removed. It also suits founders whose real question is whether something should be built at all, and what the smallest version that earns money looks like.
Will you recommend software that you built yourself?
Only where it genuinely fits, and the recommendation is always declared. The ERP work is deliberately platform-agnostic across Oracle, Odoo and SAP for the same reason: a partner tied to one product will always find that product to be the answer. Some problems are cheaper to live with than to solve, and some processes should be deleted rather than automated. You will hear that before you hear a proposal.
How much does an engagement cost?
It is scoped per engagement, because a two-week diagnostic review and a six-month build are not comparable pieces of work. Scope, fees and timescales are agreed in a written engagement letter before anything starts. The first conversation costs nothing.
How do I get started?
Describe the problem rather than the solution — whatever is slower, more expensive or less reliable in your business than it should be. Email [email protected], call or WhatsApp +44 7446 285 507, or use the contact form. Every enquiry is read and answered personally, usually within two working days, and if this is not the right fit you will be told so.
