AOPA Pakistan

The original: a professional body's entire operation migrated off WordPress, including a directory of practising firms imported and verified in bulk.

The problem

The association ran on WordPress with membership handled around it rather than in it. The harder problem was the starting position — a directory of practising accountancy firms that existed as records to be imported and verified, not as members who could log in. A membership platform with an empty directory has nothing to offer a prospective member on day one.

The approach

A two-entity model separating individual members from member firms while keeping them linked, so a person can move practice without losing their history. Firms were imported in bulk and progressively claimed by their owners, with OTP authentication rather than passwords — the right call for a market where email is not the primary identity. This is where the pattern was proven before it travelled.

The result

The build that showed the model was portable. It was subsequently localised for the UK and the UAE from the same foundation.

Who built it

AOPA Pakistan was founded and built by Abdul Rehman Sandhu, a qualified accountant and technology advisor working with businesses globally. The same diagnostic approach behind this venture is the one applied in client engagements.
